José António Ramos, Spanish manager with vast experience in international fashion retail, will be the new CEO of Salsa, the largest Portuguese fashion brand, where he will coordinate the brand’s growth, increasingly aimed at the international market.
In his last endeavour, José Antonio Ramos spent six years as Chief Commercial Officer of Esprit, a global fashion brand based in Germany, where he oversaw the centralised management of the different channels of retail, wholesale and e-commerce, while also managing the several multichannel support services, including sales, logistics and brand activation. Prior to that, José António Ramos served as a member of the Executive Board of Carrefour Spain, after having managed the food and textile & home departments, following his experience at Inditex Group, the fashion world leader, where he held positions in the product and distribution divisions at Zara. Additionally, Ramos was also a Strategy Consultant at McKinsey, and holds an MBA from MIT.
"Salsa is a brand with a unique value proposition, featuring a remarkable track record that I believe has all the potential to reach even higher growth levels. Personally, this is an enticing challenge and I am thrilled to be joining such an ambitious and competent team, so we can discover what we will be able to accomplish together from this day forward”, said José António Ramos.
Throughout its 25 years of existence, Salsa has taken on an increasingly prominent role in the fashion and textile sector, being recognised for its pioneering work in denim and for its expertise in creating differentiating technical fits combined with a superior style. Salsa presents itself as the brand that makes the best fitting jeanswear in the world, producing over five thousand jeans a day, sold across the brand’s 2,000 selling points in about 40 countries.
The path to Salsa’s development and consolidation comes hand in hand with its founder, Filipe Vila Nova, who maintains the office of Chairman and will continue to provide his valuable input towards fulfilling this new phase in the company’s strategy.
